In 2017, the Australian Sports Commission led development of the National Safeguarding Children in Sport Strategy in response to recommendations of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. A suite of information, resources and templates was designed for national sporting organisations and housed on Sport Australia’s website.
While responsibility for child safeguarding moved to Sport Integrity Australia when they commenced on 1 July 2020, the material is still available. View the material as it appeared on the Sport Australia website.
The material outlines obligations and expected behaviours and aims to help people in sport gain the confidence they need to take appropriate action. The step by step guide will help sports create or strengthen their child safe framework.
