AIS Swimming Program

AIS Swimming Program

In 1986 there were 15 women and 31 men on resident scholarships.

The AIS Swim Program played host to 327 visiting swimmers, 88 visiting Australian coaches and 6 international coaches.

The AIS Program was classed as a 'Winter' program, with scholarship holders returning to their home clubs during the Australian summer months to represent clubs and state for the summer competition program.

16 scholarship holders were selected for the 1986 Edinburgh Commonwealth Games. The entire Commonwealth Games Swimming Squad was based at the AIS for pre-Commonwealth Games training.
