AIS Swimming Program

In 1988 the Institute Swim Program had 15 males and 7 females plus 3 visiting athletes on scholarship. These athletes were responsible for 25 international gold medals, 25 individual world-ranked performances, 7 national and 1 Commonwealth record. The swim program was also responsible for achieving world rankings for 13 individual swimmers in a total of 25 events. As well as 8 swimmers in relay teams making the top 25 in six individual relays. These results were the best recorded by an AIS swim team.

Coach Judy Hudson left the AIS Swim Program in August and the end of the year saw AIS women's senior coach, Bernie Mulroy, also leave the program.
