  • Australian Junior Men’s Team at U19 World Championships – Portugal: David Andersen, Stephen Black, Justin Brown, Andrew Latimer, Andrew Looke, Adrian Majstrovich, Andrew Rice, Bradley Sheridan, Brendon Clowry, Adam Quick, Luke Spencer-Gardner. Head Coach - Frank Arsego, Assistant Coach - Mark Watkins. 5th place.
  • Australian Senior Women’s Team: Suzy Batkovic, Sandra Brondello, Rohanee Cox, Trisha Fallon, Kristi Harrower, Joanne Hill, Lauren Jackson, Carla Boyd (Porter), Alicia Poto, Gina Stevens, Penny Taylor, Allison Cook (Tranquilli), Kristen Veal, Jenny Whittle

AIS results and awards

  • Women's team won the 1998/1999 WNBL title. Finished the season with a 16-5 win/loss record. Lauren Jackson won the Most Valuable Player and Top Shooter, Leading Rebounder and All Star Five in WNBL awards. Phil Brown won Coach of the Year. Women's Team was awarded AIS Sports Star of the Year for January.
  • Men's team in the South East Australian Basketball League finished 2nd with a 17-12 win/loss record. Lost 74-80 to Kilsyth in the final - the first time a men's team had made the final. In the ABA Finals it loss to eventual winner Geelong in the semi-final by 9 points.
  • Men's team toured United States in November and finished with a 2-8 win/loss record.
  • Lauren Jackson won the R E Staunton Memorial Medal at the U20 National Championships
  • Lauren Jackson awarded Australian Junior Female Player of the Year
  • Stephen Black was awarded MVP, Australian Youth Player of the Year and All Sar Five in the Eastern Conference and CBA All Star Five and National Youth Player of the Year.
