- Australian Senior Men’s Team at World Championships – Greece: Frank Drmic, Simon Dwight, Shane Heal, Brett Maher, Tony Ronaldson, Andrew Vlahov. 9th place.
- Australian Junior Men’s Team at World Qualification Series: David Andersen, Stephen Black, Andrew Latimer, Jonathon Lee, Andrew Looke, Adrian Majstrovich, Andrew Rice, Kurt Russell, Bradley Sheridan
- Australian Junior Men’s Team at Albert Schweitzer Tournament – Germany: David Andersen, Stephen Black, Justin Brown, Andrew Coulter, Andrew Latimer, Jonathon Lee, Andrew Looke, Adrian Majstrovich, Andrew Rice, Kurt Russell, Bradley Sheridan. Won Silver Medal.
AIS results and awards
- Women's team in the 1998 WNBL season finished 3rd with a 8-4 win/loss record and lost to Adelaide Lightning 54-81 in preliminary final.
- Women's team competed in the Korean Women's League and won all ten games.
- Men's team in South East Australian Basketball League finished with a 14-17 win /loss record and finished equal 7th in the expanded Eastern Conference of the CBA.
- Men's team competed in the National Centennial Basketball Tournament in Manila and finished with a 5-0 win loss record and won the final 74-66 in overtime.
- Phil Brown named WNBL Coach of the Year
