Australian representatives (former and current athletes)

  • Australian Junior Women’s Team at Olympic Youth Rally Spain: Michelle Brogan (Griffiths), Sally Crowe (Phillips), Nerida Jeffrey, Samantha Tomlinson, Maryanne Di Francesco (Briggs), Laura Howlett, Jenny Whittle. Won Gold Medal.
  • Australian Junior Men’s Team at World Championship – Canada and Olympic Youth Rally – Spain: Matthew Alexander, Lachlan Armfield, Chris Carroll, David Close, Brendan Le Gassick, Brett Maher, Patrick Reidy, Blair Smith, Tony Ronaldson, Andrew Goodwin. Head Coach - Patrick Hunt. 11th and 4th place respectively..
  • Australian Senior Men’s Team: Mark Bradtke, Shane Heal, Tim Morrissey, Patrick Reidy, Andrew Vlahov

AIS results and awards

  • Women's team in 1991 WNBL season finished 8th win 10-12 win/loss record.
  • Women's team finished 6th in the Australian Club Championships and Phil Brown named Coach of the Championships.
  • Trish Fallon awarded R.E. Staunton Memorial Medal as the outstandong player at Under 21 National Championships.
  • Men's team in South East Australian Basketball League finished 9yh with 10-14 win/loss record.
  • Men's team in November toured the Midwest United States playing eleven games in fourteen days.
  • Luc Longley (1985, 1987) became the first Australian to play in the National Basketball  Association.
  • AIS Head Coach Dr Adrian Hurley  presented with AIS Merit Award by Prime Minister at AIS Reunion Ball.
  • Women's scholarship holder Toni Gabelish became the first female indigenous player to represent Australia and was named the Aboriginal Junior Sports Star of the Year.
