AIS results and awards
- Men's team tour of New Zealand's South Island - won all six games including three against national junior team.
- End of year tours: Women's team in Western Australia and Men's team in Queensland.
- Women's team finished third in the 8th William Jones Cup in Chinese Taipei with a 3-3 win/loss record.
- Women's team finished 9th in the Australian Club Championships.
- Women's team in the 1984 WNBL season finished 8th with a 5-14 win/loss record.
- Men's team in South East Australian Basketball League finished 13th win a 5-20 win/loss record.
- The AIS hosted the Olympic Games team in its preparation for the 1984 Los Angeles Games
- 1984 ABF-AIS Workshop guest lecturer was Jack Donohue.
- AIS basketball moved into new Frank Stewart Training Hall.
