Australian representatives (former and current athletes)

  • Australian Junior Men’s Team: David Graham, David Ingham, Graham Kubank, Darren Lucas, Trevor Torrance
  • Australian Women’s Team (Olympic Games - Los Angeles, USA): Sue Geh, Bronwyn Marshall, Donna Quinn (Brown). Head Coach - Brendan Flynn (5th place)
  • Australian Men’s Team (Olympic Games - Los Angeles, USA): Mark Dalton. Assistant Coach - Dr Adrian Hurley. 7th place.

AIS results and awards

  • Men's team tour of New Zealand's South Island - won all six games including three against national junior team.
  • End of year tours: Women's team in Western Australia and Men's team in Queensland.
  • Women's team finished third in the 8th William Jones Cup in Chinese Taipei with a 3-3 win/loss record.
  • Women's team finished 9th in the Australian Club Championships.
  • Women's team in the 1984 WNBL season finished 8th with a 5-14 win/loss record.
  • Men's team in South East Australian Basketball League finished 13th win a 5-20 win/loss record.
  • The AIS hosted the Olympic Games team in its preparation for the 1984 Los Angeles Games
  • 1984 ABF-AIS Workshop guest lecturer was Jack Donohue.
  • AIS basketball moved into new Frank Stewart Training Hall.
