  • Australia Junior Men’s Team (World Championships - Spain): Ned Coten, Simon Cottrell, Mark Dalton, Brett Flanigan, Karl Luke, Tim Morrissey, Mark Sinderberry, Peter Wain, Eric Watterson. Assistant Coach - Patrick Hunt. 10th place.
  • Australian Senior Women’s Team (World Championships – Brazil): Bronwyn Marshall. 11th place.
  • Australian Senior Men’s Team (tour of the United States): Mark Dalton, Peter Wain
  • Australian Men's Team (Summer Universiade - Canada): Chris Appleby, Ned Coten, Simon Cottrell, Scott Fenton, Michael Lee, Karl Luke, Peter Wain. Head Coach - Patrick Hunt. 8th place.

AIS results and awards

  • Men's team in the South Eastern Basketball League finished third with a 14-6 win/loss record.
  • Women's team in the 1983 WNBL season finished in fourth place with a 12-6 win/loss record.
  • Undefeated tour of New Zealand in September by the Women's team uncluding four wins over New Zealand national team.
  • Women's team finished in second at the Australian Club Championships.
  • Women's team toured Europe during November-December - with a 13-3 win/loss record. Team defeated French national team.
