Summary

  • AIS competed in NSW inter-district competition - AIS Open and U21 teams
  • New Zealand tour for AIS Open team - Canterbury and Wellington
    • defeated New Zealand South Island squad 48-31
    • played 14 games over ten days, only loss was to Canterbury Representative team
  • New Zealand Tour for AIS U21 team - Auckland
    • Eight games undefeated
  • England Tour - November - December
    • undefeated in 16 games
    • defeated England U21 at Wembley
  • AIS U21 team won South Pacific Club Championship, Suva, Fiji
  • AIS Open team won Esso Gold Club Championship, Surfer's Paradise defeating Melbourne Blue 39-34 in final.
  • Australia won the world tournament in Singapore. The team contained four former AIS scholarship holders: Sue Hawkins, Chris Harris, Karan Smith (Bullock) and Jane Searle.
