synopsis

This year, the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup put a global spotlight on women’s and girls’ sport. It showcased women and girls as athletes, spectators, coaches, officials and journalists; illuminating what’s possible when women and girls have the same opportunities as men and boys in sport. While those opportunities are slowly increasing, women and girls are still underrepresented when it comes to participation, visibility, and leadership in sport.

So how do we harness the ‘Matildas Effect’, and make sure that the World Cup momentum drives further opportunities and success for women in sport?

This is the question we’re asking our 2023 Change Our Game Ambassadors – inspiring and influential women championing equality and driving change in sport – at our inaugural Change Our Game Conversation Series event. Our ambassadors shared their experiences and perspectives on what's needed next to keep women in sport and grow the game. We will be joined online by Auslan interpreters for the duration of the webinar.

An initiative of the Office for Women in Sport and Recreation, the Change Our Game movement aims to increase the number of women and girls participating in sport and active recreation, from grassroots through to senior leadership roles.
