Date:

Presenters:

Patrick Hunt, Consultant, AIS Performance Coaching and Leadership
Greg Blood, AIS Emeritus Historian

Synopsis

On the occasion of his retirement from the AIS, this special Smart Talk presentation will capture reflections from Patrick Hunt, who was one of the original coaches employed by the AIS in 1981. Inducted into the Australian Basketball Hall of Fame in 2016, Patrick Hunt’s contribution to the sport of basketball in Australia has been immense. For over 40 years, Patrick has nurtured the best Australian players, coaches and officials, and guided them towards unparalleled success on the domestic and international stages including Olympic Games, World Championships and World University Games. With his colleagues, Patrick helped set the foundations for a system that today boasts players competing at the highest levels of the professional game. It’s this system that in no small way has led to the NBA basing one of its global academies on the AIS site. As one of the chief architects of the ‘Australian way’, Patrick has been recognised both domestically and globally as a master of nurturing talented young people to succeed at the professional level, as a teacher of coaches through experiential learning, and as a trusted international ambassador for Australian basketball.
