Biography

Dr Stephan Praet recently been engaged by AIS Medicine from Erasmus University in Rotterdam on a four-year contract as a Sports Physician. At Erasmus University Dr Praet was employed as a Sports Physician and senior researcher in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine & Physical Therapy. Dr Praet graduated from medicine and then the Sport & Exercise Physician specialty from  Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam and followed this with a PhD on the topic of Exercise Therapy in Type 2 Diabetes at Maastricht University, The Netherlands. Dr Praet has been a consulting physician at ZorgSaam Hospitals Zeeuws-Vlaanderen, Terneuzen, The Netherlands and sports teams including Premier Dutch Football League for FC Den Bosch. Dr Praet has also been involved in a number of research projects on the clinical application of exercise testing and therapeutic exercise in both primary and secondary healthcare settings and will bring with him to the AIS a funded project investigating the role of collagen in tendinopathy.
