On 30 October 2020 Sport Australia released the latest results from its national sport and physical activity participation survey, AusPlay. This release includes results from data collected in the 2019-20 financial year.

As the impact of COVID-19 will not show in the participation rates until future releases (due to AusPlay’s 12-month recall), extra questions were added to the survey in April to June. These asked about activity undertaken in the past seven days to gain an understanding of how participation behaviours have changed. Supplemented with other research, these results are reported in the AusPlay Focus report – Early impact of COVID-19 on sport and physical activity participation.
